When the newspaper first started, there was a lot of political strife going on at the City. Heated, and sometimes vicious debates over what the City would do with its aging wastewater system led to meetings that could go on well past five hours. The tension was palpable. So, with all of that in the background, it made covering the Lockport Township High School baseball team all the more enjoyable those first couple of years. Andy Satunas’ squad was filled with characters that you would expect to find more in “Major League” than the SouthWest Suburban Conference.
